Additional Information

Dale Lund is the head of the gerontology department at the University of Utah. "My advice would be not to over-identify with just one field and limit yourself or your knowledge too narrowly," he says.

"Gerontology is a field that really depends heavily upon having professionals who appreciate diverse kinds of backgrounds."

There are gerontology degrees and certificate programs offered at some universities, but you can also enter the field with a degree in nursing, sociology or psychology.
