Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You do nothing -- treatment requires the patient's consent.

True, you can't force someone to have medical treatments, even when you know it's for their own good.

Gerontologist Eileen Reilly has been in this situation. She says it is very frustrating. It's not an easy decision to make.

"There is a very fine line between intervening in someone's life for their own good and allowing them to continue to exert power over their situations and being allowed to be at risk," she says.
