  • Treats minor injuries and ailments and contacts veterinarians to obtain treatment for animals with serious illnesses or injuries.
  • Purchases and stocks supplies of feed and medicines.
  • Selects animals to be bred, and semen specimens to be used, according to knowledge of animals, genealogies, traits, and desired offspring characteristics.
  • Examines animals to detect symptoms of illness or injury.
  • Builds hutches, pens, and fenced yards.
  • Records animal characteristics such as weights, growth patterns, and diets.
  • Brands, tattoos, or tags animals to allow animal identification.
  • Places vaccines in drinking water, injects vaccines, or dusts air with vaccine powder to protect animals from diseases.
