Foster Care

Students in custody of the Department of Human Services may be eligible for additional financial aid support to attend career tech or college. Students are encouraged to reach out to the Department of Human Services and the college they're attending for support.

There are many scholarships available, specifically for students that have been in foster care.

Oklahoma's Promise offers qualified Oklahoma students an opportunity to earn a scholarship for college tuition. Students in custody of the Department of Human Services should contact their caseworker for an application. For more information, visit www.OKpromise.org.

OSRHE 2023 Foster Care Tuition Waiver

Eligible students receive a resident tuition waiver for all courses for which they're being charged at Oklahoma schools. For more information, visit the Foster Care Tuition Waiver page. Students should check with their caseworker to begin the waiver process. If a student no longer has a caseworker, please contact Jeffrey Walls, the Program Manager of the Successful Adulthood Program at the Oklahoma Department of Human Services at Jeffrey.Walls@okdhs.org.

Oklahoma Youth with Promise Scholarship

This $4,000 scholarship is available for students who are currently in or have recently aged out of the foster care system. Click here to learn more about and apply for the Oklahoma Youth with Promise Scholarship.

Education and Training Voucher (ETV)

Oklahoma Department of Human Services' Education and Training Voucher Program makes additional funding available for post-secondary training and education for eligible youth.
