Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution
You decide to let her leave for the day with her aunt.
The girl is starting to drive you crazy with her nagging and she obviously
doesn't want to be there, so you let her go.
At the end of the day, your supervisor asks you where she is and you say
you let her go home with her aunt.
"I assume the parents notified you about this?" your supervisor says. When
you say no, your supervisor looks ready to hit the roof. After
a phone call to the parents, you both learn the child is safe at home and
that it was actually her aunt. You're still not off the hook, though.
Your supervisor tells you he could fire you for this, but because you've
never done it before, he won't. He does give you a long lecture and then
sends you home feeling pretty bad.
"With things the way they are today, you just can't take any chances,"
says Sandy Josephson.
