The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) includes fingerprint expert in the category Forensic Science Technicians. There were 15,400 workers in this category in 2016 and the average yearly wage was $57,850. The average hourly wage was $27.81 per hour.

For the period 2016 through 2026, the expected job-growth rate is 17%, much faster than the job-growth rate for all occupations, according to BLS.
