Two-year journalism diploma programs are offered at a few community colleges. Four-year journalism degree programs are offered by universities.

Programs do vary. Some are aimed at people interested in pursuing careers in broadcast journalism. Other schools offer undergraduate and graduate programs for print journalists.

University courses for journalism or communications majors begin with a basic grounding in a variety of fields. Courses include mass media, basic reporting and copy-editing.
