Insider Info

Since many stations are being bought by bigger companies, the future has been foggy for many managers.

"The future is starting to become stable for general managers," says radio station manager Jeff Delvaux. "Over the last five years, there was a lot of consolidation, and general managers were a dime a dozen. Turnover is much less today."

The pay, too, can be very different from station to station.

Large popular stations can pay more, often into the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Delvaux says it can hit $350,000 per year.

Earnings and employment information from the U.S. Department of Labor is not available for this field at this time.
