Additional Information

Most snowboard designers are self-taught. The North American companies that hire snowboard designers are often looking for material or mechanical engineers with computer-aided design abilities.

When you choose your engineering program, you may want to look for one close to a good ski area. After all, this is a field where playing hard counts for career points!

You just have to love to get out there and shred. You have to know that a fakie is snowboarding backwards. A half-cab is jumping 180 degrees from fakie to forward. And a stale fish is grabbing your heel-side edge with your trailing hand between your feet.

Snowboard designers must also be highly motivated and have a demonstrated ability to manage projects from concept to final details.
