Additional Information

As a design occupation, toy designers often require a college degree.

There are only a few programs dedicated to toy designing in North America. Subjects range from product safety to child psychology to motor learning to business.

Those getting a liberal arts education should take behavioral science courses (sociology, psychology and anthropology) that focus on toys and their impact on child development. As well, they should take courses in merchandising, business administration, marketing and art.
