Additional Information

There is no one set path to becoming a technical recruiter, but recruiting firms are seeking individuals with three sets of skills. First, it's essential to have a basic technical knowledge of the field in which you will be working. It's impossible to assess the capabilities of an individual presenting themselves as a qualified database analyst, for example, if you don't understand what the job entails.

Second, you need to develop communication skills to judge candidates and market yourself to employers. Finally, basic computer skills are a must. More and more, job hunters are posting their resumes on the Internet. And while the telephone is still an important tool, recruiters also conduct a great deal of correspondence by e-mail.
