Additional Information

There is no formal path into the industry, and the competition for jobs is fierce.

Promoter Leslie LaForce says the best way of getting any job in the entertainment industry is to do an internship. "If you do a good internship with someone, whether or not you receive college credits, or whether they pay you a small salary, or whether you do it for free, that's the best way of getting in anywhere," she says.

Promoter Cindy Post says the industry is looking for people with degrees in marketing, public relations, journalism and advertising.
