Additional Information

Be ready to get at least a college certificate in electronics. Many positions will require a university degree in electrical engineering. Certificate programs and associate's degrees can be completed in one to two years. Engineering degrees take at least four years.

Brush up on your math while you're in high school. "Not just business math," warns Clark Courtney, who works for a U.S.-based manufacturer of test systems for electronic, medical and military applications. "Take advanced math, geometry, trigonometry. That way you'll move right into calculus in college."
