Insider Info

With less than a dozen companies in America conducting suspensions or providing storage facilities, much of the work in cryonics is volunteer. In fact, according to the American Cryonics Society, there have only been about 80 cryonic suspensions performed around the world.

The American Cryonics Association notes since the field is so small, at the moment cryonics has nothing to offer in terms of jobs.

The future of cryonics is in research, says Michael Perry. He works with a group that promotes awareness of cryonics and provides facilities for suspensions. "If we can't find a way to bring people back, then there is no point to what we're doing now. A few universities are starting to conduct research on reanimation. Some have even been successful with animals, but more has to be done."
