Additional Information

If you're looking for academic training in dreamwork, you won't have much luck. Most people who study psychology or psychiatry find only one or two courses offered at university, says Jayne Gackenbach, who teaches dream analysis.

"There's no place where you can get a degree in dreamwork of any sort," says Gackenbach. "Most professionals pick up developmental training at workshops, or through formal psychoanalyst training."

Training is more likely to come in the form of workshops and working with patients or clients. Conferences are one of the best ways to immerse yourself in dream therapy. Check the Internet and your local newspapers to see if there are any upcoming ones in your area.
