Real-Life Math

You're working on a brand new course. You have to go out to the area you'll be developing and bring back an estimate of the area of a golf green. You take 8 measurements from the center of the green to the edge to get 8 distances. These are the radii of the circular green -- length from the center of the green. The average of these radii can be used to determine (approximately) the total of the entire area of the green.

A = 45 feet
B = 43 feet
C = 39 feet
D = 44 feet
E = 49 feet
F = 52 feet
G = 47 feet
H = 41 feet

Figure out the average length of the radii, then use it to find out the area of the entire green by using:

Area = 3.14 x r2
