Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You interview pilots and also get up in the air and experience the job hands-on.

This is the real-life decision that Barry Spinner made.

"It was a very exciting opportunity for me. Flying was my idea. I felt I needed to do it in order to do a proper job -- I couldn't very well tell people how to select pilot-trainees without having a good idea of what they do -- so I did everything I could think of, short of getting trained myself, to find out about it," explains Spinner.

"That included going flying in a small plane as well as the jet, interviewing instructors, experienced pilots and recent students who had passed and who had failed training, and reading the research literature," he adds.
