Real-Life Decision Making
You are the database administrator for a big company. Since you have access
to all the databases, it means that you have access to employee records and
payroll information. Of course, this material is confidential. You know that
if you ever tell private information to anyone, you could be in very big trouble.
One day, Adam, your best friend from another department, invites you for
coffee. He has a problem and he wants you to do him a favor.
"I really like Melissa, that cute woman who works in the marketing department.
She flirts with me but she won't give me her home phone number," he says.
"Her birthday is on Friday, and I want to have flowers delivered to her
home address. Will you do me a favor and look up her address for me? I promise
I won't tell anyone where I got the information."
You know that giving out Melissa's address is against the rules. On
the other hand, you know that your friend is a good guy. He has done you lots
of favors in the past. He even lent you money when you needed a down payment
on a car.
Besides, Melissa really likes Adam. She confided in you and told you that
she is just teasing him, and that one day she will give him her phone number.
What do you do?
