Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You try to answer the questions yourself.

You try to answer the questions yourself. But it doesn't go too well. You start to stutter and give some answers that are obviously just killing time because you don't really know the answer. You can see the couple getting a bit less comfortable with you. Eventually, they thank you for your time and say they're going to look around at some other places and may be back. They never come back.

Blair Qualey, the president and CEO of a car dealers' association., says that decision-making skills are important when talking with customers -- and knowing when to turn those customers' questions over to someone else.

"Knowing what questions to ask people and at what point they might need to bring in someone else to help with answering questions that consumers might have is important," he says. "Making the right call is a good skill to have."
