You're designing the set for a new play called Loose Ends. It's about a woman who returns to Earth from heaven to right wrongs she committed in her lifetime. Two angels watch over her and periodically comment on her progress.

You need to create a separate "room" on stage for the angels. It will be a circular area enclosed within thin cloth hanging down. The material will be translucent, so when a spotlight is turned on above them, the angels will be visible.

You need to know how much material you'll need. The diameter of the circular flat (a raised area on the stage) that will be enclosed is 4 feet. The cloth will hang from a curtain track 20 feet up. Therefore, each section of cloth will be 20 feet long. The cloth you want to use is only available at a width of 42 inches.

  1. What is the circumference of the circular flat, in inches? (Remember: circumference = (pi.gifd)
  2. How many sections of cloth do you need?
  3. How many square feet of cloth will you be using?
