Real-Life Communication

You are a music producer. You are in the studio recording the latest album for Nicky Holden, a major pop star. Holden has not made an album in three years. She is afraid her fans have forgotten her.

You want this album to make a big impact. From your experience, you know that the best way to do that is to go in a new direction. You want to use more acoustic sound and really push Holden's voice to its full potential.

However, Holden is convinced that the tried and true methods work. She wants to put out the same kind of album she usually does in order to keep her fan base.

You have to explain to her that a new approach will likely bring her new fans. If she puts out the same old thing, she will probably be seen as a "has-been" who can't learn anything new. But you don't want to upset Holden -- it's her album, after all.

What do you say to her?
