Real-Life Decision Making

A personal trainer (PT) makes decisions every day. These decisions affect not only themselves, but their clients. A trainer may have to decide when to push a client, and when to ease up to achieve the best results.

You are a personal trainer working with a client. The client is experiencing shoulder discomfort during a moderate weight training exercise. You have to decide if you want to encourage them to continue with the exercise and work past the pain. After all, this type of discomfort is not uncommon. No pain, no gain! However, the shoulder pain may also be a symptom of something more serious. Continuing with the exercise may cause serious injury to your client.

What do you do?
