Real-Life Decision Making

You are a foley artist working on a difficult scene of a dancer dressed in a beaded costume. Her dress is made of chiffon covered with heavy beads over her shoulders and around her waist. She has small seashells dangling from her ears and tied about her wrists. On her ankles, she has rows of tiny wooden beads.

"It isn't as simple as shaking some of the beads to make a certain sound," says foley artist Gary Boggess. "Lots of times you have to find a different material to create a familiar sound."

After working hard, you come up with the appropriate sounds and record them in time to the film sequence. When you play back the film, it sounds very good. You are pleased, but have a nagging feeling that something is missing.

You look at the film again and see that the dancer actually has tiny metal bells laced in between the shells tied around her wrist. This tinkling sound is missing from your work.

But it's the end of the day, and your crew wants to go home. The work you already have sounds very good.

What do you do?
