Real-Life Communication

Communication is very important between cosmetologists and clients. As a cosmetologist you rely on happy clients to come see you often for your services. If your clients are not happy with you, they'll find someone else to provide the service.

"As a stylist you really want to make sure that you know exactly what the client wants before proceeding with the service," says Kristin Ploof. She is a cosmetologist in Rochester, New York.

You are preparing to meet a young woman who is getting married next month. She is considering booking you as the cosmetologist for her wedding party on her big day. It would be a great opportunity for you to meet new clients. You can offer make-up, nail care, skin care and hair styling for the bridal party.

Your salon can accommodate groups up to 10. You can offer a 15 percent discount for booking services for three or more people. Consultations are free.

Write down what you would say to the bride to convince her to book you.
