Real-Life Communication -- Solution

You could begin the news conference this way:

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the airport news conference. Before you ask any questions, let me begin by saying that no one was hurt in the incident.

"Around 2 p.m. today, an airplane refueling truck tipped over, spilling around 1,000 gallons of fuel on the tarmac.

"The cleanup crew was dispatched immediately and is currently cleaning up the mess. They have everything under control. We here at the airport are taking corrective measures to ensure that incidents like this will not happen again. Are there any questions?"

"The biggest part is human resources, handling your staff," says airport manager Donna Fraser.

"At a smaller airport, that's what most of your time is spent on. The communication skills, personal skills, dealing with people in the airport...these things are very important."
