Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You decide to apply for the job.

This is a very personal decision -- you know not everyone is cut out for working at the baggage service area. You decide to seek some advice. You know you could talk with your union representative, colleagues already working in that area, or the airline's human resources manager.

You talk to a couple of people already working in that department. They say how much they like tracking down lost baggage, and that they enjoy the challenge of dealing with passengers face to face. Their enthusiasm reassures you and you apply for the job. You get it and love it!

This is very close to the career decision made by baggage service center representative Lisa Tedeschi. She bounced around to several different jobs within the airline before she ended up in the baggage department. The job matches her personality and she's very happy.

"You feel like you're helping people -- and I like that." Tedeschi has even been promoted to handle especially difficult cases where the luggage still hasn't shown up after 24 hours.
