Linguists are working in nearly all bands, tribes, nations and communities to write down stories and history from oral cultures.

The process of translating is arduous and time-consuming. The trend of writing stories and history down raises the question of whether, in time, the role of the elder might be overtaken by books of history.

"I think a book like that would be able to raise questions that an elder would be able to answer," says elder Perry Roberts.

You are a Salish translator who has been assigned a 95-page document. Usually, it takes about 2 hours a page to translate from Salish to English.

Your deadline is in 21 days. But you are expected to make it home for your birthday in 19 days. How many hours a day will you have to work to be able to leave in 19 days?
