Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution
You tell him it's OK, skydiving isn't for everybody.
At first, the man looks relieved. After the plane lands, however, he seems
upset. The other students are all thrilled by the experience. They conquered
their fears and feel like new people because of it.
"I'm a failure," you hear the man mumble to himself. "I could have
done it, I should have done it, but now it's too late."
Of course, any customer can decide not to jump. However, by
giving up so easily, the student made a decision he'll regret for a long
time.
"Personally, I think it would be very traumatizing to go through the entire
course, get in the plane, go up, and not do it," says skydiving instructor
Sheldon Rice. "For a lot of people, doing that first jump is not really about
skydiving. It's about facing all your fears."
