Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You sign off on the problem.

You mark a reminder in your logbook to fix the entertainment systems the next time the plane comes around. Even better, you think, maybe you should just contact the next airport directly to ask avionics technicians to fix the problem there.

You think you have everything solved, and you go back to all your other work. The next day, your manager asks you into his office. He appears upset about something.

He informs you that he has received several complaints this morning already from various departments regarding the broken entertainment system. The flight attendants had to deal with angry passengers who were shocked that their $800 flight did not entitle them to an entertainment system like everyone else.

The passengers all filed complaints, and one of them was even an evaluator for airlines in a consumer magazine. You are shocked to hear the damage that your judgment has imposed upon your fellow workers, and the reputation of your airline.
