Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You tell the driver to go.

You can't bear to admit you've made a mistake. You wave the driver off, thinking, "It's only a small amount, what difference could it make?"

But when a driver is racing around a track at high speeds, a small amount of deflation in a tire can make a huge difference. And the thing is, you know this, as you're a good mechanic. You just let pride get in the way. Your driver lags just a bit going around the last few corners. You know why. He loses the race.

"As with most jobs, decision making is a very important part of performing well," says Brett Goodman. He's the owner of a racing academy. "And just like most jobs, knowing when to not make the decision and seek guidance or reference can be just as important of a decision."
