You are a furniture refinisher. You have been asked to create 4 new legs for an old table. Although you're used to doing small repairs, building brand new legs for chairs or tables isn't a typical request.
But since you've been dealing with this customer for years, you decide to go ahead and fix the table.
The table is rectangular in shape and with its old legs, stands a little more than 3 feet high. The new legs your customer wants are to be longer so the table can be used in the kitchen.
The depth of the top of the table is 3 inches. It sits like a block on top of the 4 legs. The customer has decided he would also like the depth increased by an inch. This way, once the table is complete, the legs will be longer and the tabletop will be deeper. According to your customer, this "new" table will match the rest of his furniture perfectly.
Your customer has also told you that he would like the finished table to be no higher than 4 feet tall once it is completed. Taking into consideration the current length of the legs, and the depth of the tabletop, how much will you have to add to the legs to bring the table up to 4 feet?
