Real-Life Math

You are a stock footage specialist working for a news station. Since you decide what film footage from each day's news will be archived, you like to evaluate your choice of footage once a month.

You have gone through the monthly requests for each category of footage and calculated how many minutes of each have been used. To find out whether you have been archiving too much of one category or not enough of another, use your math skills to determine the percentage of footage used for each category.

  • nature scenes -- 15 seconds
  • crowd/rally scenes -- 42 seconds
  • celebrities -- 8 seconds
  • political leaders -- 3 minutes, 12 seconds
  • political speeches -- 2 minutes, 45 seconds
  • weather scenes -- 1 minute, 17 seconds
