Real-Life Communication

In your position as chief privacy officer for an online business, you are responsible for drawing up a privacy policy and for communicating that policy to your company's customers.

Your CEO and the department heads have approved the privacy policy you developed. It is a very simple policy. Essentially, it states that your customers' personal information, including their e-mail addresses, will never be sold or distributed to other parties.

What is more, your company will not send them e-mail advertisements of new offers unless the customers specifically agree to receive these e-mails. This is called "opting in."

Now you are writing an e-mail message that you will send to each of your company's customers. You will explain the policy to the customers and invite them to opt in to the company's promotional mail-outs.

Write the e-mail message that you will send.
