Sport Psychologist

Real-Life Communication

The local baseball league in your town has asked you to come and give a talk about what a sport psychologist is, and how you could be of service to the players and the parents of this organization.

One of the things that you like best about your career is public speaking. Joan S. Ingalls likes to call herself a sport mental training consultant. "Public speaking is one of the most important skills a sport mental training consultant can have," she says.

You need to give a speech to these people. It should be about 15 minutes long. You need to discuss all the things you think would be relevant to the listeners. Your clients are coaches and athletes, and in some cases, the parents. You want to let them know what you can do for them.

Prepare an outline of what you want to present in the speech. Keep in mind that these listeners know nothing about what you do.

What would your outline look like?
