Real-Life Decision Making

It has been a long day. You pause for a drink of water, wipe the sweat from your brow and keep walking. As a tree planter, you still have seedlings in your pack that need to be planted in the rough terrain.

You have a certain number of trees you try to get into the ground each day. If you can finish planting this sack today, you will earn more money. In addition, this area will be finished planting, and you and your crew can move to more hospitable ground.

The sun is getting lower in the sky, but you press onwards. The ground becomes increasingly steep and rocky, and slows you down considerably. Once you reach the summit where you will begin to plant the rest of the trees, you notice that the sun is very low on the horizon.

You could plant the trees and then try to quickly descend the mountain before it grows too dark. Or you could turn around now and plant the seedlings tomorrow.

What do you do?
