You are the American Ambassador to Newland (a fictional country). You'd like to propose a free trade agreement between the United States and Newland. Free trade agreements are agreements between two or more countries to eliminate government tariffs (taxes) on goods and services, making it easier for countries to trade between them.

Write a short letter (about three paragraphs in length) to Newland's minister of trade.

You'll need to explain the purpose of your letter -- you want to introduce the idea of a free trade agreement between your two countries. You should include the benefits of setting up a free trade agreement - for both Newland and the U.S.

A free trade agreement would do the following:

  • - Provide greater trade opportunities to both Newland and U.S. exporters and importers
  • - Increase economic opportunities for Newland and U.S. manufacturers, workers and farmers
  • - Give both countries greater access to a strong market
  • - Create a better business climate in each country, making it a better place to do business
  • - Encourage investment in each country

You should then wrap up the letter, by suggesting some next steps.
