Real-Life Communication -- Solution

Here's what your outline could look like:

Introduction:

Introduce yourself to the audience first as a person. Explain where and how you were educated. Then explain exactly what a sport psychologist does.

Now you need to make this personal. Explain how you can help:

The coaches
The parents
The athletes

Give an example for each of these situations:

How you would work with a coach
How you would work with parents
How you would work with the athletes

Tie it all together with how they can reach you for more information, or to make an appointment. Make sure you have business cards or brochures available for them to take with them.

"We have to make smooth, organized presentations to teams, parents groups, coaches groups, etc., and sell our services," says sport psychologist Joan Ingalls. "We have to talk to athletes and coaches. Communication is basically all we have."
